IL Concealed Carry Training Class Our IL Concealed Carry Training Class is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to handle, shoot, and carry a concealed firearm safely. Operated by seasoned handgun instructors and trainers, this course follows the Illinois Concealed Carry Law (Public Act 98-0063) requirements, offering a comprehensive 16-hour training program that includes both classroom instruction and range qualification.
Our curriculum, approved by the State of Illinois, covers essential topics, including firearms safety, basic principles of marksmanship, firearm handling, and applicable state and federal laws. For those who have prior training, up to 8 hours of credit may be granted for qualifications such as NRA Basic Pistol, NRA Personal Protection, or prior military experience. We also offer a “second 8-hour” class option for those who have already completed the first part of their training.
Training Credits Available:
• 8-Hour Credit: NRA Basic Pistol, NRA Personal Protection (Inside and Outside the Home), Prior Military with DD-214.
• 4-Hour Credit: Utah CFP Permit, Florida CCW Permit, Nevada CCW Permit, Missouri CCW Permit, Kentucky CCW Permit, Michigan CPL, IL Hunter Safety Course, Chicago Firearm Safety Course.
Student Equipment Requirements for Class
Each student must bring the following to every training class:
Firearm
• Must bring your firearm both days of the 16-hour class.
• No magnum calibers, derringers, firearms without trigger guards, lasers, High-Points, single-action revolvers, or any firearm deemed unsafe by instructors.
• Firearms must be cased and unloaded during class unless instructed otherwise.
• If using a semi-auto, you will need 2-3 magazines.
Ammunition
• 100 rounds of ammunition (no hollow points allowed).
• 40 rounds for practice, 30 rounds for qualifying, with an additional 30 rounds if re-qualification is needed.
Hearing and Eye Protection
• Essential for safety during live-fire exercises.
Concealment Holster and Belt
• Bring the holster you plan to use for concealed carry, whether it's a belt holster, purse holster, or any other type.
• Holsters will be used to practice drawing with your unloaded firearm.
Firearms Owners Identification Card (FOID)
• A valid FOID card is required (expired cards are not accepted).
State Identification
• A valid State Driver’s License or ID card is required for identification purposes.
Proof of Prior Training
• To receive the 8-hour credit, provide proof of successful completion of prior training courses approved by the Illinois State Police.
Additional Class Requirements:
• Safety First: Unsafe actions result in immediate disqualification with no refunds.
• Qualification Score: A minimum score of 70% is required to pass the shooting qualification.
• Age Requirement: Must be 21 years or older to attend the class.
• Dress Code: Wear appropriate clothing—no high heels, open-toed shoes, or revealing attire.
• Cancellation Policy: Five days’ notice required for cancellations or rescheduling, otherwise a $75 fee applies.
